About Sherway Farm holiday cottages in Devon

Sherway Farm, a former dairy farm is situated in the heart of Devon's rolling countryside. It is part of a small parish in East Devon called Clyst Hydon, which boasts an award winning gastro pub, The Five Bells. Our farm is situated right on the top of a hill which faces south giving panoramic views over our wild flower meadow and beyond. On most days you can see up to 28 miles, as far as Brixhams Berry head.

We have eleven acres of land including our very own woodland, 'Paradise copse' which backs onto National trust woodland, perfect for all year round nature walks, especially during the late spring/early summer when the bluebells are at there best!

Each of our self-catering holiday cottages have been lovingly renovated to an extremely high standard, every bit of care has been taken to keep the 'rural' theme present throughout each property making them perfect for a relaxing countryside break, a home from home!

Once you have arrived at Sherway, why not spend your first evening soaking and unwinding in your very own private hot tub whilst watching the sun go down and the stars come out!

Well.. Where to start? Gary & Karen have done an amazing job creating this gorgeous hideaway. The Dairy is luxurious; beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you need! The hot tub is superb and the views breath taking. Swifts and swallows abound.. A pure delight to watch when relaxing in the hot tub as is the ever changing Devon sky. Gary and Karen helped us to provide a very good friend with a much needed break and nothing was too much trouble for them; we came away feeling we had made good friends and we cannot wait to return! We only had booked a week but stayed on .. We only left because of having to return to work! We cannot recommend Sherway Farm highly enough.. Superb, luxurious 5 star accommodation, setting and Welcome! Thank you Gary, Karen and Jim, we will be back asap!! Xx

A group of us stayed for a friend's wedding - nine adults and a little one - and took over two of the cottages for a couple of nights. Gary and Karen and wonderfully welcoming and brimming with helpful suggestions. The cottages themselves are absolutely lovely - well kitted out with everything you need (including the kitchens), luxurious bedrooms and ensuites and cosy lounge spaces. I was the unpaired adult amongst us and so took the sofa to sleep on, and even that was so comfy! The setting is perfect if you want to get away from it all - high on a hill with breathtaking views and some lovely walking nearby. Top tip 1: take a dip in the hot tub as the sun sets and you'll be rewarded with a truly relaxing and peaceful experience. Top tip 2: it's quite out-of-the-way and a bit of a maze to get there, so take it easy down the tiny lanes!

We stayed here with two other couples in January. Gary and Karen (the hosts) were extremely welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, they even offered us all a lift to and from the local pub!
The property is beautifully furnished and decorated and all three large double bedrooms have excellent en-suite facilities. Our bedroom had floor to ceiling windows with stunning views across the countryside. Even the hair dryer provided was amazing!
The large sitting room is very welcoming and comfortable with plenty of room for us all to relax.
The extremely well equipped kitchen was a joy, with a large dining table giving plenty of room for us to dine together.
All in all we can't recommend it highly enough and look forward to going back in the summer.

My husband and I stayed at the Coach House during the weekend of 21-24 April and had the most amazing time.

From the booking through to departure, Karen and Gary made everything so easy. We were welcomed warmly by them both on arrival and had a guided tour of the Coach House, which has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard. Every little detail has been thoughtfully considered which made it feel like (a very luxurious!) home from home.

We were welcomed with fresh flowers, homemade cake, snacks and a bottle of bubbles which we enjoyed in the hot tub, admiring the view!

It was wonderful to hear nothing but the birds and look out over the hills waking up each morning.

The house was spotlessly clean and was really well equipped.

We ate dinner at the local Five Bells Inn and the Jack In The Green - both highly recommended. Gary very kindly played taxi to the Five Bells on Saturday night which was great so we could both enjoy a drink with our meal - a very thoughtful touch.

The cottage works very well and there is nothing we could fault - we were already planning our return trip before we left!

If you are looking for a relaxing stay in a beautiful property in a stunning location in Devon, with welcoming hosts who really do love what they do, then stay here. We cannot rate it highly enough.

Myself and my husband stayed here with four friends for the Easter weekend. What can I say. Very pleasantly surprised! A stunning idyl in a lovely remote spot. We had such a glorious time. We had no idea that the owners would put so many lovely touches into the coach house it certainly was a home from home. Lovely room, comfy bed, well positioned TV and a lovely power shower!

They had supplied toiletries, towels, bathrobes, milk, orange juice even Prosecco and choccies and a big cake to share!!
We had a lovely BBQ and managed to flounce our way into the hot tub every evening. Plastic glasses supplied!!
This is a lovely area, lots of shops and a big Tesco nearby for stocking up. We visited Sidmouth which was stunning. We would definitely stay again.
Thanks to Gary and Karen!

“Total luxury!”

Myself and my fiancé have just returned from a beautiful stay at sherway farm holiday cottages! We stayed in the coach house for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend and we have come home feeling so refreshed and ready for everyday life! Having stayed in lots of beautiful places around the country, when my fiancé booked this surprise trip away my expectations were already pretty high, but not as high as the standard we received throughout our stay. Karen and Gary are such warm, welcoming and delightful hosts, they have made the holiday cottages so very special, thinking of every last detail and it truly is like a home from home! When we arrived on the Friday afternoon at the coach house, we were welcomed by Karen who gave us a lovely tour of the house, and had also left us a bottle of prosecco, a welcome card, some chocolates and a lemon drizzle cake.. which may I say, was the best lemon cake I've ever had!! (Must bring some home next time we stay!) .. absolutely everything you could want is in the cupboards already waiting for you, even tomato ketchup and brown sauce ready for a cooked breakfast in the morning!! Orange juice in the fridge and fresh milk too. The master bedroom in the coach house is absolutely stunning, with the most gorgeous window overlooking simple breathtaking views, money can't buy those sort of views! It's so picturesque. The super king size bed was simply a dream! The en-suite is stunning, equipped with shampoo and conditioner and even lovely shower gel and bubble bath too! We literally had everything we could possibly have asked for all under one roof! The highlight of our break away was of course the 6 seater hot tub right outside of the coach house which we had private use of throughout our stay! This made our holiday extra special, we spent our evenings once it got dark, in the hot tub, with the pretty little in tub coloured lights on, looking over the stunning views with prosecco in hand! What more could you ask for? I would recommend sherway farm to anyone and everyone, especially for those seeking something with a little extra luxury than the typical bed/breakfast type place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already looking into returning later on in the year in December, having only just been home a couple of hours! Once again Karen and Gary, thank you! You have put everything you have into making something so magical, and it was an honour to have been the first gay couple to have visited you! Lots of love xxx
